The future of M2M connectivity presents enormous opportunities to mobile operators, with a projected CAGR of 26 percent (GSMA Intelligence) to reach nearly a billion cellular M2M connections by 2020. However, operators face widespread challenges in adapting to serve such rapid market growth. With diverse standards and technologies spanning numerous countries and networks, each with its own SIM resources, management platforms and regional contracts, coupled with high roaming charges and limited experience across verticals, the key to each provider’s success lies in global collaboration. The M2M workshop was established to facilitate this collaboration.
