On 6 December 2018, Guangzhou, Hand in Hand Program (hi-H Program) successfully launched its IoT workshop together with the networking dinner in Guangzhou during China Mobile Global Partner Conference period. Topic of this workshop is about IoT (Internet of Things), aiming at defining the future and exploring the IoT ecosystem for telco. More than 70 guests from 23 global corporations participated in this workshop. This is also the second workshop of innovative technology that hi-H program has held. Guest speakers from DT, Orange, Vodafone, CMDC, CMIOT and CMI have delivered their competent insights on the topic of IoT business, which attracted heated discussion and active involvement from members present.
Technology Evolution and IoT Business
In the first section of IoT workshop, Mr. Johannes Opitz, Vice President of Commercial Roaming from DT, has delivered the topic about NB-IoT charging model and wholesale paradigms. DT’s strategy and designed principles were shared and analyzed during the workshop, together with the discussion of permanent roaming.
While Mr. Stephan Klink, Head of Commercial Expansion and Enablement of Vodafone, has taken the role of 5G into discussion with IoT. Vodafone’s experience of developing 5G-IoT was shared, the challenges and opportunities of new 5G business model in IoT development were shed lights on during the workshop.
Mr. Cédric Gonin, Senior Marketing Director from Orange, has delivered an in-depth discussion about the marketing expectation with 5G, together with Orange’s experience in IPX Evolution for IoT and 5G.
In section two, Mr. Cyrus Tsang, Product Manager of CMI Innovative Business, followed by Ms. Mo Xinzhu, Strategic Planning Manager of CMIoT and Mr. Nicholas Guo, Overseas Platform Manager of CMDC, conducted the case sharing of China Mobile experiences in IoT business in terms of IoT products, platform and devices. CMIoT, as the professional IoT Company of China Mobile, has elaborated the potential and the pain point of IoT industry in China and overseas markets. CMDC, the largest device distributor in China, also discussed about its business model with its device solution to members present.
